Has anyone noticed the almost complete silence most health organizations and their insurance plans practice concerning preventive medicine, most specifically the administration of comprehensive and detailed annual physical examinations that surely would lead to early discovery and preventive treatment of problems before they become catastrophic and costly? Is this a case of being "penny wise and dollar foolish", or is there a deliberate emphasis on avoiding outlays for low-cost preventive care in order to bolster the bottom line of insurers (who, incidentally, don't make much money off of preventive care)? Or is it simply a case of our allopathy-centric medical system's unwillingness to detect and treat causes of illness rather than symptoms, the latter being easier to diagnose and requiring fewer resources (and thus enhancing the insurers' bottom line)?liberranterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00555275410576294081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-80395690586022883332007-10-18T10:45:00.000-06:002007-10-18T10:45:00.000-06:00I know a medical Dr who works for an Indian reserv...I know a medical Dr who works for an Indian reservation. She told me that the feds allot a certain amount of money per year for the tribe's clinic. She has to decide who gets what care. When something expensive comes up (like a needed bone marrow transplant) she has to weigh that against everyone else's needs for the rest of the year, which means that she has to deny the bone marrow transplant. She told me that this is how Hillarycare or any other govt medical care would operate.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32869165.post-15541649474884219252007-10-18T04:48:00.000-06:002007-10-18T04:48:00.000-06:00Indeed, Jerri. The things in your post quoting from Republican pundits about parents having children they shouldn't, etc., further convinces me that this is not a pro-life, Christian party.

We Baby Boomers should be terrified and taking every precaution to preserve our health. At the first sign of a major medical crisis, it is clear to me that we will be denied medical care in an ongoing effort to save money in this ponzi scheme in which we are trapped. Even if you can afford your own care, you will be running into physicians who are conditioned to consider saving the lives of the elderly to be a waste of resources.

I am already seeing this trend. Google Andrea Clark and Emilio Gonzales and you will see what I mean.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
